Langtang Valley Trek details

Langtang Region is another famous Region of Nepal for Himalayas and natural resources. Langtang Region is located in northern part of Kathmandu valley and boarder of Tibet. As like other trekking region of Nepal Langtang is also one of popular trekking region where you can explores various high Himalayas, beautiful natural resources and different kinds of flora and fauna. Langtang Region is much popular for glaciers so, trekking in Langtang Region is also known by glaciers trek. The whole Langtang Region valley is conquered by Mount Langtang Lirung (7246m) and offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow-capped peaks, grassy down and meadows. The ranges of Himalayan from Langtang Region gives every travelers full enjoyment and relax. Langtang Region is located under Langtang National Park where wide variety of climatic zones, from subtropical to alpine. Approximately 25% of the park is forested. Trees include the deciduous oak and maple, and evergreens like pine, and various types of rhododendron. Animal life includes Himalayan black bear, the goat-like Himalayan thar, rhesus monkeys and red pandas. There are also stories of Yeti sightings.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Namaste and welcome to Nepal. Alpine Excursion Treks and expedition's representative welcome you warmly at the Tribhuwan International Airport and transfer to the hotel. You take rest and enjoy your meal in the evening. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02Full day sightseeing.After the breakfast, you set out for the sightseeing trip in the Kathmandu valley. Our expert tour guide shows you the UNESCO world heritage sites, which include Pashupatinath (the Hindu temple), Boudhanath (Buddhist stupa), Swayambhunath (Buddhist stupa and temple). Then, return back to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1460 meters) by private vehicle. 6-7 hrsFrom Kathmandu, we drive to Syabrubesi after the breakfast by private vehicle. The long drive becomes awesome with the views that come along the way, including terraced green hillside and the snow capped mountains. Syabrubesi is the gateway of the Langtang region treks. Overnight at lodge.

Day 04Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel. (2324 meters). 5-6 hrsAfter the breakfast, we begin the trek following the Langtang Khola River. The first day, we walk gradually and we pass the monastery and chhortens. Frequently, we cross the wooden bridges. Then we walk through the dense woods. Lama hotel is our destination today, which is located in the exciting landscape. Enjoy the dinner in the Langtang region. Overnight at lodge.

Day 05Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang (3330 meters). 5-6 hrsWith the melodious countryside music, we wake up and have a breakfast. Then our journey begins to the Langtang village. Walking through the dense forest, we reach to Ghoda Tabela and officially enter to the village. Langtang village is an ethnic Tamang village, settled in the densely populated community. Tamang people are rich in culture and hospitality. We can enjoy the surroundings, walking around and finally take a rest. Overnight at lodge.

Day 06Trek from Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa (3730 meters). 3-4 hrsThe alpine region begins as we begin the trek. The fluttering Buddhist flags welcome us in the mystical land. We gradually walk passing the cheese factory. The surroundings are full of Buddhist cultural offerings. Kyanjin Gompa is also the border region to Tibet. The monastery located at Kyanjin is the spiritual center, for the Tibetan Buddhists. We may get an opportunity to observe the evening prayer. Overnight at lodge.

Day 07Acclimatization day: hike to Tsego ri. (4985 meters).After the breakfast, we begin to climb up to the Tserko ri, which is located almost at 5000 meters. The Himalayan views can be explored from the closer distance, including Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak and its surrounding mountains. The Tibetan peaks also can be explored from Tserko ri. This hike is really wonderful for the photographs. Then we gradually walk down to Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight at lodge.

Day 08Trek from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2324 meters). 5-6 hrsIn the morning, we begin to trek down to the Lama Hotel. We are already familiar with the trail while ascending. The walking down is faster, but at the same time we can enjoy the pocket zone of snow leopard and red panda. Overnight at lodge.

Day 09Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulosyabru (2210 meters). 5-6 hrsWith the good morning breakfast, we begin to trek down. We pass Bamboo and walk through the landslide area. We split from Pairo and Thulo Syabru is a step ahead, which is closely located to the waterfalls. Overnight at lodge.

Day 10Trek from Thulo Syabru to Dhunche (2030 meters). 5-6 hrsAgain, we trek down from Thulo Syabru via Foprang Danda. On the way, we meet a junction ahead of Shin Gompa. One trail leads us to the Gosaikunda Lake. Leaving it, we take the trail that takes us to Dhunche, which is a district center of Rasuwa. Overnight at lodge.

Day 11Drive from Dhunche to Kathmandu by private vehicle. 5-6 hrsIt time to say good bye to the Langtang region. After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu by the private vehicle. After a long drive, you will be transferred to the hotel and your time begins. Overnight at lodge.

Day 12Full day sightseeing: Bhaktapur and Patan Durbar Square.Bhaktapur is a place worth to explore its centuries old cultural heritages. After breakfast, we drive there, which is about 40 minute drive and explore around. The city is richly loaded with the excellent crafts. This mediaeval Durbar Square has got pagoda style temples, 55 window palace, golden gate, museum and others. Then we drive to the Patan Durbar Square, which is again famous for the arts. You can see the wonderful architectures in temple and a good collection of things in the museum. Then we drive back to the hotel and rest. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13Final Departure Day The last day of the trip, the representative of the Alpine Excursion Treks and Expedition drops you to the airport. Thank you for joining us for your memorable trip. See you again.

  • Horse renting and additional porters during the trek.
