Khopra Trek details

Khopra Trek is a community trek in the western region of Nepal, bound up by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project. The trail is less trafficked and the scenery that the trek offers are outstanding. The bio-diversity, snowcapped Himalayan range of the Annapurna and the spiritual surroundings are seen breathtaking.

Trekking to Khopra Ridge of Annapurna begins from Beni that leads you via Bans Kharka. The beginning trail is the pocket zone of orange garden. Walking further through the dense woods of rhododendron, pine, oak and bamboo forests, you can enjoy the excursion through the moderate route and awesome scenery.

During the Khopra trek, you pass through various ethnic villages, namely Gurung and Magar communities, who is known for the wonderful hospitality. Their traditional cultural pattern of living, garments and celebrations are fabulous. Home stay service is also available in some parts.

Maharedanda is one of the famous place to see the sunrise on this trekking. Khopra Ridge (3660 meters) is a superb viewpoint of the snow-capped Himalayas, including  

  • Dhaulagiri 8167 meters,

  • Annapurna I 8091 meters,

  • Manaslu 8156 meters,

  • Machapuchhre 6993 meters,

  • Himchuli 6441 meters

and other attractions can be explored that have made the Annapurna surroundings as the worth destinations to visit. If you manage some extra days, you can walk to the khayer Lake at 4600 meters, which is the highest point of this part. The descending trail takes you via Ghandruk, the village of Gurkhas.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu Namaste and welcome to Nepal. Alpine Excursion Treks and expedition's representative welcome you warmly at the Tribhuwan International Airport and transfer to the hotel. You take rest and enjoy your meal in the evening. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02Sightseeing of Kathmandu City. After the breakfast, you set out for the sightseeing trip in the Kathmandu valley. Our expert tour guide shows you the UNESCO world heritage sites, which include Pashupatinath (the Hindu temple), Boudhanath (Buddhist stupa), Swayambhunath (Buddhist stupa and temple). Then, return back to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03Drive/Fly to Pokhara (820 meters). 6 hrs Today, we drive or fly to Pokhara, the city of Lakes. Driving through the highway takes about 6 hours and flight is just about half an hour. The views that can be explored during the driving are breathtaking. The winding road along the bank of the River is wonderful. Once you reach Pokhara, you will be transferred to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04Drive to Beni and trek to Banskharka. 3-4 hrs From the city of Lakes, we drive to Beni. Through the winding road, we reach to the district center of Myagdi. Then we follow the Kali Gandaki River and trek to Banskharka, which is our first stop of the trekking, where you can enjoy the home stay service. Overnight at Homestay.

Day 05Trek to Nagi. 5-6 hrs The community trail is wonderful. We can enjoy the local hospitality, get to know about the local culture and explore the natural surroundings. Today, we walk through the up and down trail, almost the whole walk. It's another time to enjoy the Home Stay in Nagi. Overnight at Home stay.

Day 06Trek to Moharedanda (3330 meters). 6-7 hrs From Nagi, you follow the same type of trail you have done yesterday. It is more isolated. Passing through the dense woods and grassy route and you reach to Moharedanda. It is a magnificent viewpoint of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Manaslu range. Overnight at community lodge.

Day 07Trek to Tilkot. 7-8 hrs From Mohore Danda, we trek almost all the way uphill to Bisaune, (2370 meters) and pass Shikha Danda that finally leads us to Tilkot, which is again a wonderful community to stay and enjoy the local lifestyle. It is a bit far from the heavy tourist flow, which is still undisturbed. Overnight at home stay.

Day 08 Trek to Swanta (2400 meters). 5-6 hrs Taking the uphill route from Tilkot, we pass Khiban, Shikha and finally to Swanta. The trail goes all the way through the rhododendron forest. Enjoy the hospitality of the local people. Overnight at lodge.

Day 09Trek to Khopra Danda (3660 meters). 4-5 hrs From Swanta, we begin to walk to Ratmate after the breakfast. The dense woods and grassy land dominate the trail. Reaching Dikure, you walk to the Upper Lodge of the Khopra Danda. Enjoy the destination with a hot meal. Overnight at lodge.

Day 10Trek to Bayali/Deurali. 4-5 hrs We have an easy itinerary today. From upper lodge of Khopra Danda, we trek down to Bayeli. If you think it's too short walk for you, you can continue descending to Deurali via Bhaisi Kharka and Muldaai. Muldaai is a view point of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the Annapurna range. Overnight at lodge.

Day 11Trek to Ghandruk (1991 meters). 6-7 hrs The way we deal today is almost the downhill. After breakfast we begin to walk down. The melodious sound of the birds energizes you further. The trail is covered by the rhododendron and oak forest. Ghandruk, which is a large Gurung village, is our destination today. You can enjoy the Gurung cultural exploration in this village. Overnight at lodge.

Day 12Trek to Nayapul 3-4 hrs and 1 hour drive to Pokhara. From Ghandruk, we walk down for an hour to Kimchee. Then we walk for 3-4 hrs more to Nayapul, continually through the road. After checking out from the ACAP check post, we drive to Pokhara, which is 1 hour drive. Then transfer to the hotel in Pokhara. You can stroll around the Lake side in the evening. Overnight at hotel.

Day 13Sightseen in Pokhara The rest day in Pokhara is excellent to see the things around and enjoy the water fun along with Pokhara city sightseeing. We can visit the David's Falls, Seti Gorge, go to the cave, visit mountaineering museum and enjoy boating in Phewa Lake. Pokhara is the city of Lakes and the setting of this city is incredible. Overnight at hotel.

Day 14Drive back to Kathmandu. After breakfast in the morning, we drive to the tourist bus park and drive further to Kathmandu. It is again about 6 hours' drive on the highway. You reach to Kathmandu and transferred to hotel. Enjoy the evening with your group and take a rest. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 15Departure. The last day of the trip, the representative of the Alpine Excursion Treks and Expedition drops you to the airport. Thank you for joining us for your memorable trip. See you again.
