Nar phu Valley Trek overview

Nar Phu Valley Trek is a journey to mysterious villages of the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is highly suitable to call a cultural trek, but it is also adjoined by the awe-inspiring natural vistas and the enticing white Himalayan scenery, including Annapurna and Manaslu peak from various high passes.

The trip becomes really enticing and strange that offer a wonderful experience for trekking in Nepal.

Beginning the trek from the Lower Annapurna region, it gains the altitude once you walk to the Tibetan Buddhist villages. Phu village is located in the upper part of Annapurna, which is bound up by the Tibetan Buddhist cultural heritages along with the natural vistas you can explore the Thashi Gumba, Samdu Choling Gumbao of Phu village, Yunkar Gumpa and descending through the Phu Khola, take a route via the Kang La Pass (5306 meters). These hidden valleys nudging the Tibetan frontier have retained their antique Tibetan-oriented culture. The cultural abundances do not limit thereafter, rather, it spreads out throughout the trekking trail.

The Bhraka Monastery before Manang and various cultural offerings of the Tibetan Buddhist sites of Nar and Manang village are seen incredible.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01Arrival day in KathmanduNamaste and welcome to Nepal. Alpine Excursion Treks and expedition's representative welcome you warmly at the Tribhuwan International Airport and transfer to the hotel. You take rest and enjoy your meal in the evening. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02Sightseeing (special permit Document preparation) day in Kathmandu After the breakfast, you set out for the sightseeing trip in the Kathmandu valley. Our expert tour guide shows you the UNESCO world heritage sites, which include Pashupatinath (the Hindu temple), Boudhanath (Buddhist stupa), Swayambhunath (Buddhist stupa and temple). Then, return back to the hotel. If we have to make permit, we need to do this today. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03Drive to Bulbule from Kathmandu 7-8 hours and 1 hour trek to Ngadi Bazzar After the breakfast at the hotel, we drive to Bhulbhule from Kathmandu for 7-8 hours. The changing sceneries include the River, terraced rice fields, jungles and terraced villages. First we drive along the Trishuli River and then we follow the Marshyangdi River. If you like, you can begin the trek from Besisahar. But, we drive further to Bhulbhule and trek for an hour to Ngadi Bazaar. Overnight at Lodge.

Day 04Trek to Jagat (1310m) 6-7 hours After the breakfast at Ngadi, we commence to walk through the forest and fields. We reach to Syange. Passing Tallo Chipla and power plant, we reach to Jagat, where we will conclude today's walk. Overnight at lodge.

Day 05Trek to Dharapani (1860m) 5-6 hours Today, we begin the trek from Jagat in the Manang region, heading through the barley and potato fields. Then we walk along the rhododendron forest that takes you to the teritory of Manang. Passing Chamje, we reach to Tal, where ACAP check point lies. Then we begin to walk via Karte and finally reach to Dharapani. Overnight at lodge.

Day 06Trek to Koto (2600m) 4-5 hours We begin to walk from Dharapni after the breakfast. Koto is our destination today. We walk through the landslide trail, passing Bagarchhap and Timang village. The Himalayan views of Mt. Annapurna, Lamjung Himal and the neighboring peaks can be explored. If you like, you can enjoy the natural hot spring on the way. Passing Thanchowk, we reach to Koto. Overnight at lodge.

Day 07Trek to metha (3560m) 7-8 hours walk to Metha via Phu khola (matha) village of Tibetans (Buddhist) and go through the river site (streams) After breakfast, we begin to trek through the isolated trail of Annaourna region, leaving the main trail that leads us to the Thorong La pass. Almost the trail is isolated and very few human settlements are located on the trail. The trail goes through the bank of the Naar Khola, passing some dense forests and rock dominated trail. We Pass Dharmasala before reaching Meta. Overnight at lodge.

Day 08Trek to Kyang (3820m) 4-5 hours (lunch and camp) After breakfast, we walk gradually to Kyang passing a big chhorten and Naar phedi. Then we pass Junum Goth and Chyakhu before we reach to our destination- Kyang, which is beautifully located at a wonderful landscape. Overnight at lodge.

Day 09Trek to Phu Village (4080m) from Kyang 5-6 hours After the breakfast at Kyang, we begin to trek to the Phu village through the jaw dropping landscapes. With a careful walk, we commence the trek facing the rocky path and we eventually see the Naurs, which is called blue sheep. Via entrance gate of Phu valley, we enter into the valley, which preserves its traditional way of living and their cultural practices. The Annapurna scenery can be explored from this village. Overnight at lodge.

Day 10Rest day and make short trekking. After the breakfast, we prepare for the day hiking around. After lunch we visit some of the culturally significant monasteries, chhortens and the villages around the Phu Valley. We visit the Tashi Gumba, Samdu Choling Gumba of Phu village. Overnight at lodge.

Day 11Trek down to Yunkar Gumpa (3540m) 6-7 hours From Phu village, we trek down to the culturally significant Yunkar Gompa. It’s a gradual walk down through the rock dominated trail and the steep rocky slopes that increase the adventure in the trip. Overnight at lodge.

Day 12Trek to Nar Village (4110m) 4-5 hours (lunch and camp) From Yankur Gompa, we descend to Naar village. It is a gentle descent and again we climb up to the Nar village via Yughat. We can see the Stupa and Mani walls on the way. Overnight at Lodge. Overnight at lodge.

Day 13Hike Around We will make short trekking up to 400m more in the morning from the Naar village and come down to Nar Village and after lunch we will visit monastery again. Overnight at lodge.

Day 14Trek to Kangla phedi (4530m) 4-5 hours (lunch and camp) From Naar village, we have a short walk today, just to prepare for the high pass climb. After breakfast, we walk through the steep moraine path. Reaching early, we have time to prepare for the following day, maybe a short climb and descend back. Overnight at lodge.

Day 15Trek to Kangla pass (5306m) 8-9 hours and Nawal village (3657m) The real adventure begins after the breakfast. We begin to climb the steep steps after crossing the metal bridge and steep notch. The Kang La Pass is located at 5320 meters altitude, which is a wonderful viewpoint of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurana, Tillicho peak, Pisang Peak, many more that are in the surroundings. Climbing down to the Ngawal village via grassy path, take a rest. Overnight at lodge.

Day 16Trek to Manang (3540m) via Bhraka monastery (3439m) From Ngawal, we begin to trek to Manang via Braka. On the way, we explore the Sher Gompa and Braka Gompa. We have an easy day with exploring the cultural heritages. Manang is our destination today, which is a center of cultural attraction and a village populated by the Tibetan Buddhists. Overnight at lodge.

Day 17Rest Day in Manang The exploration day in Manang, we spend exploring the monasteries and chhortens along with the cultural lifestyles of the people living in the Manang village. We hike to the Gangapurna Lake, Boozo Gompa and the surroundings. Overnight at lodge.

Day 18Trek to Ice Lake (4600m) 5-6 hours (new route) From Manang, we set out for a wonderful hike to the Ice Lake, which is also known as the Kicho Tal. Then we trek down to the Braka village of Manang district. There, we explore 900 years old Bhraka Gompa. Overnight at lodge.

Day 19Trek to Dhukur Pokhari (3060m) Via Upper Pisang village 5-6 hours From Braka village, we begin to trek down to Dhikur Pokhari after the breakfast. We can explore the wonderful scenery of Humde airstrip and the surroundings. After passing Upper Pisang village, we reach to Dhikur Pokhari and take a rest. Overnight at lodge.

Day 20Trek to Dharapani from Dhukur Pokhari 6-7 hours down. From Dhikur Pokhari, we trek down to Dharapani. After the breakfast, we begin to trek down via Bhartang, Talekhu, Chame, Koto, Timang, Bagarchhap and finally reach to Dharapani, checking out from ACAP check post. Overnight at lodge.

Day 21Drive to Besisahar from Dharapani and same day drive to Kathmandu 6-7 hours From Dharapani, we drive down to Besisahar, the district of Lamjung district all the way through the bank of the Marshyangdi River, then we drive further to Kathmandu continually through the Prithvi Highway, waving farewell to the trek. Then you transfer to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 22Rest day (Shopping) day in Kathmandu. After the tiresome excursion, today you have your own day. It may be valuable to do the shopping and buy souvenirs for your family members and your friends. Then you can have a relax time. Overnight at lodge.

Day 23Final Departure day The last day of the trip, the representative of the Alpine Excursion Treks and Expedition drops you to the airport. Thank you for joining us for your memorable trip. See you again.
